To the Owners of Historical Sites

We can help you develop a business plan tailored to your specific castle. Our services include:
- Crafting and testing a viable business concept
- Identifying added value for existing services
- Exploring additional revenue streams
We understand that owning a castle is costly. That’s why we assist owners in transforming their properties into successful businesses. Our extensive experience is our advantage—each year, our team visits dozens of commercial projects in castles across Europe.
I often assign my clients a training exercise: devise ways to generate income from the castle grounds during adverse conditions, such as a bad season, a pandemic, or a natural disaster. This task encourages owners to adopt a broader perspective, anticipate future challenges, and realize that it is possible to profit from history, even when facing issues like a leaking roof.
One of the most challenging aspects for many entrepreneurs is finding a commercial use for dilapidated castles. Let me share a notable example:
Chateau de la Mothe-Chandenier: 9 Million Euros from Ruins
I was fortunate to work on this project since 2017. Chateau de la Mothe-Chandenier, located in France’s Loire Valley, was not much more than walls barely surviving a fire.
How did we generate revenue from it? The idea was simple yet innovative: sell shares of the castle in small parts for just 100 euros! These ownership shares were offered as beautifully packaged certificates, making them perfect gifts for Christmas and later for Valentine’s Day. For 50 to 300 euros, anyone could feel like a genuine owner of an ancient castle.
Nearly 30,000 people from 115 countries purchased shares of Chateau de la Mothe-Chandenier as gifts for their relatives and friends, resulting in almost 9 million euros raised!
You can read more about the project [here].
This project was incredibly challenging but also enlightening, as I led a team of over 100 people from around the world.
I am proud that despite the many similar crowdfunding initiatives globally and in the Czech Republic, the “Chateau de la Mothe-Chandenier” case is the most successful in history.
This model has since been applied to other historic estates owned by the same company, including Fort de l’Ebaupinay, Château de Vibrac, and Château de Boulogne.
